Cognitive

Passes toys from one hand to another
What to Expect
Baby transfers objects between hands. Shows developing coordination and planning.
Warning Signs
Cannot transfer objects by 8 months; Uses only one hand; Drops objects immediately
At-Home Strategies
- Give baby a small katori (bowl) or lightweight toy. When they grasp it, offer another toy to encourage hand-to-hand transfer.
- Play with colorful bangles - let baby hold one, then offer another. Watch them switch hands to grasp the new bangle.
- During play time, hand baby objects while they are already holding something, creating natural opportunities for transferring between hands.
- Show baby how to pass a soft ball or dupatta from hand to hand, demonstrating slowly and letting them practice.
