At-Home Strategies

  • Call baby's name frequently throughout the day in different situations - during feeding, playing, bathing - to build name recognition.
  • Say baby's name, pause, wait for them to turn or respond, then smile and say "Yes! That's you!" to reinforce the connection.
  • Play "Where is baby? There is baby!" game. Call their name and when they turn to look, show excitement and clap.
  • When multiple people are present, have one person call baby's name from different spots in the room, encouraging baby to turn toward the voice.
