At-Home Strategies

  • Show baby their bottle before feeding time and watch for signs of recognition like excitement, opening mouth, or reaching hands.
  • Keep baby's favorite rattle or soft toy in the same place. Show it regularly and watch as baby begins to recognize and get excited seeing it.
  • Introduce 2-3 toys in regular play. Name each toy: "This is your bell" or "Here is your ball" to help baby recognize specific objects.
  • Use same colorful cloth or small blanket during all nap times. Baby will start to recognize it and associate it with sleep comfort.
